Charles Francis Seitz

Charles Francis Seitz of Chadds Ford, PA, passed away peacefully at home on August 31, 2009, surrounded by his family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

Charlie and his twin brother, John, were born on January 31, 1947, in Wilmington, DE. A graduate of Mount Pleasant Senior High School and the University of Delaware, he was a certified public accountant and certified valuation analyst. He began his career with the international accounting firm Arthur Andersen in New York City and attained the position of manager. He returned to Wilmington in 1976, practicing accounting with several area firms. He founded Seitz, Sublett & Associates, LLC in Centerville, Delaware, with his long-time business partner, Cynthia Sublett. Charlie enjoyed helping his many clients and friends but in particular loved being in the office with his co-workers, affectionately known as Charlie's Angels. An avid golfer and member of the Wilmington Country Club, Charlie was known for his great sense of humor. If you heard laughter, you could count on Charlie being there in the middle of a group sharing a story.

He loved competing with his brothers and friends and took great pride in the championships he won. In addition to reading and traveling, Charlie enjoyed volunteering, especially for Delaware Special Olympics serving as its treasurer for a number of years.

The son of the late Colonel George Hilary Seitz Jr. and Katherine Sullivan Seitz, Charlie is survived by his twin brother, John S. of Southport, NC and his wife Nancy and their children Mary, Shawn, Katherine and her husband, Gregory, and Margaret and her husband, Michael; his sister, Katherine M. Seitz; his brother, George H. and his wife Kathleen, and their children, Bryan and his wife, Rachel, and Hilary; and his brother, Paul C. and his wife Joanne and their children, Stephanie and Courtney, all of Wilmington; as well as his close friend and business partner Cynthia Sublett and her husband, Chuck.

Family and friends are invited to Charlie's viewing Thursday evening, September 3, from 6-8 pm, at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 1900 Delaware Avenue, Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday morning at 10 am, at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 10 Old Church Road, Greenville. Burial will be private.
