Aaron Joel Poller died on July 28, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Poller was born in Bronx, NY to the late Shirley and William Poller on May 4, 1947. Aaron graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Wilmington, Delaware. Mr. Poller attended University of Pennsylvania where he received a degree in English Literature. Mr. Poller then went on to receive his R.N. at Montgomery County Community College in PA, his Bachelors in Nursing from LaSalle University in Philadelphia, his Master’s in Nursing from University of Pennsylvania, and his Nurse Practitioner license from the University of North Carolina. Mr. Poller worked at Montgomery Co. Emergency Services in Norristown, PA and Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia. Aaron, after moving to Winston-Salem, worked in adult psychiatry at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital; Aaron also taught at Surry County Community College and Winston Salem State University in the field of psychiatric nursing. Before retiring, Mr. Poller worked at Sevenhills Associates, a private practice specializing in adult psychiatry.
Mr. Poller is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda; two daughters, Sarah Catherine Piatkowski and husband Paul, and Elizabeth Rose Gomez and husband Matthias; one grandchild, Margot Piatkowski; two sisters, Martha and Rachel Poller; a nephew, Micheal Poller; and a niece, Rebecca Arthur.
A celebration of life will be held at Winston Salem Friends Meeting, 3151 Reynolda Rd., Winston Salem, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1.
