Marie started her career as a key punch operator for HFC following graduation from MPHS, and then DuPont. She advanced to programming assistant in DuPont’s Information Systems Department during the 70’s. In 1978 she met and married Ray Gardner and helped to raise Ray’s three children. Later she became a wonderful step-grand-mom to six grandchildren. Marie’s career continued to advance through the1980’s with various promotions leading to the position of systems analyst. She became part of the DuPont team to implement a comprehensive software system named SAP. Marie retired from DuPont in 1992 and joined International Consulting Solutions (ICS) as a SAP consultant. Marie was hired by Autodesk Corporation and became a Manager in the Information Technology Section in 1995. This led to international travel that included SAP implementations in Japan, Australia, Singapore and eleven countries in Europe, and travel to China and India to select vendors and set up IT consulting contracts. Marie semi-retired in 2005 as a Senior Manager. She did not enjoy retirement very long as she developed seizures early in 2006, which led to a diagnosis of a brain tumor. Marie fought valiantly but died from the tumor January 21, 2008.
